It's Halloween, so today I have a tale about Frankenstein's Monster--a gathering of old, discarded graveyard parts sewn together in an unholy manner creating a new, reanimated creature all its own. I've been building this beast for months and finally, after endless eBay searches, Craigslist crawling, and PayPal payments, it's all come together. But before we begin, indulge me in listening to some contextual history.

I've been meaning to make this post for months, but with yesterday's announcement that Steve Jobs was resigning as CEO of Apple, it seems to be the perfect time to reflect on this. As a lifelong Mac user, I lived through the days when Apple was practically dead. The Mac OS was obsolete, the replacement "Copland" OS project was a failure, the Mac product line was a confusing mess, and the company itself was bloated and mismanaged. But then, Steve Jobs came back to save the very company he founded during its darkest hour.

FACT: I'm a geek--or more specifically, a Mac geek. I've been a die hard Mac user my entire adult life. As a child, I had a Commodore 64 and a 128D, but ever since I've been exclusively using Macs both at home and in my professional life as a Graphic Designer. The very first Mac I ever touched was my Uncle's 1984 original Macintosh; the first I ever used professionally was a Mac IIcx at a newspaper job in 1991; the very first I owned myself was a IIsi in 1993. Along the way, I've used practically every Mac OS ever released--here's most of them.
