This is the new Air Jordan 2011, the flagship performance basketball shoe released annually by Jordan Brand each February in conjunction with the NBA All Star game and Michael Jordan’s birthday. Since the XX3, all Air Jordan flagships have been numbered by the year of release, this being the third year of the new nomenclature. And in my opinion, the 2011 is the best so far since the XX3.

If you only know me through my blog and twitter, then you probably don’t know that I have many other hobbies and interests besides sneakers, food, and music. In reality, I love a great number of of things--particularly those that are finely crafted, especially those with a unique character. One of the things I love is single malt scotch whisky. And this is one of the best I’ve had.

Confession: I drove by this Japanese restaurant for years simply because I couldn’t bear the thought of eating at a place called TAMPOPO. Granted, I had no idea what that word meant, but I just didn’t like the sound of it. But one day a couple of years ago, my curiosity finally got the best of me. I just had to try TAMPOPO for myself.

Sneakerheads already know what these kicks are—and are probably salivating at the pics—but for the uninitiated, allow me to explain. These are the highly coveted Air Jordan 4 Retro white/cement, released back in 1999, which happen to be the last of this colorway to feature NIKE AIR branding on the back before the switchover to the Jordan Jumpman logo. So yeah, they’re kind of a big deal.

This officially sucks. I've been trying to write this post for over a month now but just haven't had the heart to do it. You see, my favorite greasy spoon restaurant in Dallas, the famous METRO DINER on Gaston, just outside of Deep Ellum, is closing its doors for good in April. It’s been there since 1968, nearly as long as the original 1963 Preston Center location that closed back in 2008. I'm really torn up about this.

The company I work for is a sponsor of the Dallas Stars, and with that sponsorship comes a corporate luxury suite. Of course, it's for client entertaining purposes, so it's not typically available to employees such as myself. But as luck would have it, I was invited to a game in the suite last weekend. FREE EVERYTHING! I got the total five-star treatment.

This is the Nike Zoom Kobe VI "OC" (Orange County), part of the All-Star LA City Series pack which was released in conjunction with the 2011 NBA All-Star game that was held earlier this month in Los Angeles. I've blogged about a pair of Kobe VIs before, my "Un-Rice" PEs, and while I've never owned any Kobe sneakers before this year, I gotta admit that the Kobe VI is a shoe profile I'm really starting to like.

Last fall, I was hanging out with my friend Premium Pete in the New York/New Jersey area and he took me by a store he knew about, someplace he said made him think of me. One foot in the doorway and I knew exactly why: it's a store full of stuff I like! The Record Store in Howell, NJ is a combination record store, comic book store, and vintage toy store all rolled into one.

This is the recently released Air Jordan 3 white/cement, the original colorway of arguably the most significant Air Jordan sneaker. It was this brilliant Tinker Hatfield design (and a serious talking to from his father) that kept Michael Jordan signed with Nike, eventually allowing Jordan brand to become a global powerhouse. But unlike most significant Jordans, these didn't sell out overnight. They're still available practically everywhere. You did buy a pair, didn't you? Didn't you?

Today is February 14--Valentine's Day--the annual day on which we celebrate love. If you are a sneakerhead who has a girl who also likes sneakers, what better Valentine's gift than a pair of Valentine's sneakers? For the second year in a row, my wife got a pair of love-themed sneakers for Valentine's Day. As you probably know, "Amor" means "love" in many Latin-based languages, and it's really fitting for this one because I LOVE this sneaker.
